Sketching is perhaps the most accurate way to convey what was seen in the eyepiece, although it is still not perfect. The eye sees detail and contrast differently from a camera. Sketching is also a great tool to train oneself to see more detail. My inspiration and encouragement to sketch comes from Howard Banich and Jimi Lowrey.
